I own Jameson Media Group, a national media company (advertising, production, branding...and we create television shows).  We have offices in Hollywood, CA as well as locally here in Reno, NV.  Jameson has worked with some of the world's top brands (Pepsi to Nike), top celebrities (LeBron James to Kristi Yamaguchi) and top national media outlets ranging from NBC (and all the major networks) to media giant, Meredith Corporation.

We have an immediate need for four JOURNALISM and DESIGN interns in our Reno office.

These internships will be compensated.

One of our clients publishes a national magazine and we intend to give the right interns tremendous hands-on experience in the writing, design, and layout of this magazine.  While working on this magazine would be our immediate need, there are numerous very interesting national media projects our interns could be assisting with as well.

Our interns' direct work will appear nationally and will be associated with well-respected brands.  The resulting work product will be a great addition to any portfolio.

These internships will make an impact, and they do have the potential toward longer-term full-time employment.

In addition to offering compensation as part of these internships, Jameson Media Group intends to work with UNR to tailor these internships to count toward course credit.

As the President of Jameson Media Group, I will be spending a significant amount of time working directly with our interns (I live in Reno and work mostly in our local office), offering them as much mentorship as possible.  It is important to me that our internships are meaningful both for Jameson, and most certainly, for our interns.

You and potential candidates can learn more about Jameson Media Group and see some of our work at:  www.jamesonmedia.com; also, here is a link to a more recent spot we did for West Point:  www.jamesonmedia.com/westpoint.

Interested candidates can submit their resumes and contact us at:  interns@jamesonmedia.com.

Thank you in advance, Professor Lerude.

Kind regards,
Alan Hall

My name is David Ward.  I own E Media Ad Group.  We have been a full service agency in Reno since the year 2000.

I have hosted a few UNR interns several years ago.  Currently, I have 2 internship opportunities at E Media.

One is for a student interested in learning to work with and develop accounts.  This would involve prospecting, scheduling and attending client meetings.  The successful candidate will be a personable and confidant individual interested in possibly pursuing an account executive career in advertising and marketing.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required for this opportunity.
The second internship is for someone interested in media buying and media trafficking.  This individual will gain experience in preparing media insertion orders, rate negotiations and production trafficking.  The successful candidate will be detail oriented, and be fluent in excel.

Reliability and professional appearance are essential for both opportunities.

These internships do not pay an hourly wage.  There are some fringe benefits (such as concert, sporting event tickets) that may be included.  Also, I have hired a couple of interns in the past, although this is not to be construed as an offer of future employment.

    tips:

If you know which PR field you'd like to pursue, find a local organization and ask them if they are looking for interns (paid or unpaid). Paid internships are great options, if you can find them. While unpaid internships do not benefit you financially, you will gain invaluable experience.
